About Us

The purpose of Hmong Student Association at North Carolina State University is to promote recognition and an understanding of Hmong culture and history; Serve as a resource to the community in volunteerism; Promote a path of higher education within the Hmong Community; And provide an outlet to build meaningful relationships between a culturally diverse group of individuals.

The Hmong are an ethnic group that traditionally lives in isolated mountain villages throughout Southeast Asia. Roughly 260,000 Hmong are currently living in the United States since being refuged and resettled after the Vietnam War, where the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had sought the Hmong's help in the Secret War in Laos.
